What a load of crockery. I’m not a Christian, or a subscriber to any religion in particular, but I’m also not vulnerable to the ‘woo’, which is exactly what Oprah is selling. Ekhart’s thoughts about what happens after death are laughable. He’s selling a number of propositions with no proof, and people are soaking it in without a thought. But live and let live – as long as their woo doesn’t infringe on my rights and my life.

Wow; I didn’t realize she had literally started a church. That’s really heartbreaking.
It’s sad how badly she misinterpreted the idea of God’s jealousy. It’s also very sad to think how badly she’s going to regret these decisions one day.

Whoever made this video is an extremely narrow-minded person, wrapped up in his own ideas and trying to impose them on others. Oprah has not started a church. She is just trying to help people, and knows that what counts are human values. Everyone can understand God the way they want: having faith does not necessarily imply living according to the ideas of any narrow-minded and intolerant church.
(And, just for the record, the largest church in the world is the Catholic Church. Not Oprah.)

Anyone who thinks that ‘heaven’ is a destination needs to point it out on a map and drive there. And as Tolle notes, he doesn’t give what happens after death any thought. Know why? Because, much like God, what occurs after death is thus far literally beyond our comprehension.
Christianity has become just another form of oppression and terrorism.

God is not jealous of Ophra. What has she got that He does not have, having created her in the first place? She has so little understanding of Scripture, scant if any theological knowledge, and no authority to speak for Him at all. She claims God is a feeling, not a belief. He is neither. He is far more than either. So this is worship of one’s feelings, essentially worship of self – and ultimately there is no salvation in that.

A man once asked Jesus, “What is truth?” Pilate did not wait around for the answer from Jesus, who is the Truth, the Way , and the Life. (John 14: 6) Truth is truth regardless of what one believes. God has given men over in the lusts of their hearts , because man has exchanged the truth of God for a lie, worshipping the created (self and idols) , rather than the Creator. (Romans 1: 24, 25) The wages of sin is death, the place of punishment is Hell. This is true, whether we believe it or not. For those who refuse to come into the light and let their deeds be exposed, repent and trust the cross to save them, the wrath of God remains on them. Once to die, then the judgment. It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God!

Obviously you and I disagree on the veracity of those bible verses, but that wasn’t the point I was raising. I was pointing out the strange, sadistic excitement that some theists seem to have when they consider non-theists getting their comeuppance. Quote all you want, but it doesn’t seem very merciful (on your part, I’m not even referring to a deity) to enjoy the idea of someone suffering, regardless of how much you may think they brought it upon themselves.
As a godless heathen, I shouldn’t be the one pointing out that you should turn the other cheek, do unto others, and love your enemy.

It is sad to see such a figure as herself credit her success to herself. All we can do in this manner is pray and standout for the truth. Proclaim the Gospel and let the truth be known!

Oprah, is wrong, wrong, wrong. There is only one way, and that is through Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord. God is not jealous of us, but He is jealous of the gods that other people put before Him. Trust and Obey. The Bible is our guide and we are to live our lives as close to God each day as we possibly can. The cross was a death warrant for Jesus, but he did not die. He arose the third day as the Bible said He would. Our sins He took with Him to the cross. We have the choice of receiving His salvation through His Grace and our Faith. The other choice, is the road that leads to hell. I don’t want to go there. I want to see my Jesus face to face one day and thank Him for what He did for me that day at Calvary. I hope you do too.

All I can say is “yikes!” We need to open up our eyes, the devil comes in many disguises designed to first allure and then mislead. Oprah’s blame of a preacher referring to the jealous nature of God is a cowardly cop-out. If it bothered her so much, did she go and talk to him for clarification or seek other counsel on the matter? Sounds like she already made a decision in her heart to reject God and a life of surrender and true selflessness and now uses all kinds of spiritual excuses to justify her choices. Well, I have not been a big fan of Oprah’s for quite some time. This opens my eyes a little to her beliefs and that scares me. There are many ways to Heaven? What kind of talk is that? JESUS is the only way into the Kingdom of Heaven. I think she has misunderstood something or does not have much knowledge of scripture. GOD is not jealous of her! That sounds a little egocentric to me.

All that sucess and money is the product of Gods favor. She knows that she is undeserving of such good fortune and feels compelled to explain it as something godly within her own self.She needs to consult with any good U.S. Marine who has servived one day of frontline combat. If she dosen’t invoke Gods rath he may yet give her time to see the error of her ways before its to late. God loves even the dummys but he very well may set her up as an example for the whole world to observe. No man can second guess Gods plans.

Look,
It is up to you to determine your path. I know that there are millions of “O”-BOTS, that would blindly follow Oprah into oblivion. I like Oprah, but come on people, use your brains you had before the Oprah Show…(Key word: Show!)
But, for what it’s worth…I am a Christian and daughter of a Baptist Minister who respects Jews, Catholics, Muslims and others who follow their religions.
It’s a long standing argument that Christianity is the only way to heaven versus practicing any other religion. I cannot claim to know this for sure. I believe it, as part of my religion…yet I could be wrong. Every religion believes their way is the only way.
For now, I will continue meditating on the Lord while doing yoga, eating Hebrew National hot dogs, wearing a Rosary as a cool accessory and not keeping my hair wrapped up.
I don’t have all the answers, I just have my opinion.

How sad! I am so thankful for who GOD is to me! Also, so thankful for all that HE’s done for me. I was killed in an auto accident in 1991. When the doctors had no help for me, GOD still did! My entire testimony available at http://www.YoungHarmony.com GOD is real for those who believe AND for those who don’t. I have never met Oprah, but I know that she is. I have come to know JESUS and I know that HE is more real than anyone I know. She really works hard for her beliefs, maybe we need to work harder for ours!

Regarding efforts to define “one way,” consider this: Jesus allowed people to discover who he was. He hoped they could figure it out by observing the combination of his words & loving behaviors. Rather than going around saying, “Hey, everybody, I’m the Son of God, and you’d better believe that or you’ll be damned forever,” Jesus would instead ask, “Who do you say I am?” What Jesus taught is that God’s presence is revealed through those in a living relationship with God, in how we “bear the fruit of the vine.” The vine is perfect love.
In this regard, Oprah has rightly recoiled from a presentation of God which depicts God as having crass, base, or spiritually ugly attributes. Her insistence that God is love fits with the picture Jesus gave us of his Heavenly Father. Jesus did not cram his teachings down our throats; he instead allowed us to seek, so that we could find. The Holy Spirit is our guide if we are honestly seeking (& I haven’t noticed that the Holy Spirit judges).
Are those who presume to have truth nailed down even still connected? (At what point do we know enough about God’s beautiful nature to stop exploring it?) While I may not agree with all that Oprah says/does, she is honestly seeking. I respect that. Also, I have prayed that those who equate rigidity of belief with faith, can be freed of their fear, so as to better allow the Spirit’s liberating, transformative influence.

What’s scary about Oprah is that she honestly believes that she is truly enlightened. She has done all of these great acts of kindness which can lead herself and others into spiritual deception as she appears so righteous and so spiritually atuned.
Jesus said himself, “I am The Way, The Truth and The Life no one can come to the Father accept by Me.”
Doesn’t say through giving away cars, giving away houses, etc.

What Oprah is doing is as old as the cause of man’s fall from God’s grace in the Garden of Eden. Satan, in essence, told Eve not believe God, but rather believe him and of course she did. The words may differ and the people who Satan uses may differ, but the intent is always the same and, that is to get people separated from the true God and their Creator using lies. I believe it was Adolf Hitler who employed this same method by advocating that if you tell a lie long enough and often enough, the people will come to believe it.
Oprah is trying to match wits with the Omnipotent and Omnciscient God. He wins and poor Oprah loses out in eternity. Pray for her.

I’ve always been uncomfortable listening to Oprah, but was impressed with the good she does through her giving to charities and needy individuals. However, in the light of this video, I now see that, deep in her heart, she’s trying to work her way into Heaven.
Well, Oprah, it won’t work, my dear. Your heart is telling you what your mind refuses to believe: there is only one way and that is through Christ. I pray that one day her eyes will be opened as Paul’s were.

It is very clear to me that this country is still filled with hatred, fear and an over all superior feeling all nicely packaged under the guise of Christianity.
Too bad that so many of you use the bible as a means to tear down people, countries and other beliefs that are about living in peace with each other.
Living a good life and giving back to our world is exactly what we need more of. It must be exhausting to constantly sit in judgement of others.
I guess I will take comfort in the fact that so many of you feel threatened that your beliefs are not the end all for the growing many that have found a better way above all of the repression that so many churches teach.
I am sure that someone will begin quoting the scriptures about my comments. Please know that while I respect everyones right to choose their religion, I also know that the bible is a book of stories written 100 years after the death of Jesus and has been revised and rewritten so many times since that it’s messages are very confusing and sometimes misleading.
With that said, I guess we will continue to see massive killings, war torn countries, suffering and devastation all in the name to have fundamental christian values imposed on the world.
Be aware that more people today are enlightened spiritually to a better way by self improvement and acts of kindness. It is very interesting to me that there are so many of you out there that are without sin throwing stones. It must be grand to be you.
Too bad all of this energy is not redirected in a way that makes the world a better place for everyone.

I really pity those following her when judgement day comes around.
Christians, God’s Children, will be caught up in an instant, and those following her and other false teachings will be caught standing with their fingers in their noses asking, “What did I do wrong?”

Her views on God and who He is, are warped. I laughed when she said, “God is jealous, of what, me? I though God was love.” Does she not realize He is also a just God. The scriptures speak more of the wrath of God than they do the love of God. She is in another world. It is sad that she thinks there are “many paths” to God. Narrow is the way that leads to life, and there are few who find it.

Even if you do not believe in Jesus as the only way of salvation, you have to admit that Oprah does not believe in Jesus as Savior by her own words. Also, if you do not believe in Jesus I have no words to impress you but simply to make you aware that I will pray that you make time to “try Him.” Actually READ the Bible not what everyone else says about it.
Someone wanted to know about America’s tolerance and freedom of speech. The sad thing is it seems everyone is tolerated and has freedom to speak, except for the Christian. I understand this too. No one wants to be told they are a sinner in need of a savior; no one wants to have guide lines. Of course, no one has to take a bath either but it feels good when you do!
I encourage you to read the Bible (not glance at it or read the summaries; pick up a copy).
By the way someone needs to remind Oprah the Bible is still THE BEST SELLER. Wonder if she will put it in her Book Club?
People are afraid of the Bible because, for believers and non-believers, when you pick it up its words, precepts, and promises have a strong impact on your life. Even if you believe it is just a book of stories written 100 years after the death of Jesus and has been revised many times. Wonder why no other “book” suffers the scrutiny the Bible does – could it be because it is actually what it says it is. If so then Jesus is who He said He is and that would really up-set a lot of people.

The type of jealousy God has for His people. I am married to Skipper; I have committed my life to him. He has a rightful jealousy over me, but not a demanding, controlling, insecure jealousy. Would he be crazy and insecure if I left him for another man and vice versa? No! Would some say, “That Skipper dude is just jealouse, there is something wrong with him, why does he care if his wife left him?” That is a natural and understanding emotion to have. She is very smart, but not very wise. Classic case of people twisting scirptures and then denying God.

The book called the bible suffers scrutiny because people use it to justify their actions towards those who do not subscribe to christianity. Some christians believe in the old testament, casting judgement on those christains who live by the teachings of the new testament. Throw in a gideon bible and a king james version and oh let’s not forget the lost book of mormons, it becomes very clear why it is scrutinized.
The people who scrutinize the bible the most are christians. Everyone is too hung up on being right in their beliefs to take the time to follow the path of natural law.
We are not here to have the world serve us, we share this place with many beautiful people and all the creatures who inhabit it. We are no better than either.
I am amazed that so called christians can rally together to pass judgement on a person who has helped so many people and who continues to give hope to those who need our help. If you believe that Oprah Winfrey is headed off to hell in the after-life I really would rethink what kind of people will be in the so called heaven.
By the way, which book of the bible did Jesus write telling us who he is and what he stands for?

This election season has really brought out many kooks and dummies who actually believe that the masses they themselves lead (who really aren’t thinking people, but folloers) will be persuaded against your leadership. Those that put this together FEAR to dissuade and persude their own congregants of political thought.
I agree with fantastika4021 and adamently disagree with Apeek. From the clips of Oprah speaking and interviewing others, you have parceled and nipped and clipped portions in which you came up with her not believing in Jesus and the Lord God. Anyone can take snippets as in Dr Wright’s preaching for thirty seconds and making it the focus of thirty years of hard labor in bringing thousands to the fact of God’s saving power in Christ Jesus. There is no question what the geared up Republican dirty tricks machine will do to discredit anyone else’s belief system as they seek only one agenda! To win at any cost to America!!

It must be difficult for her to reconcile that fact with her devastating childhood. I think we need to have the love God has for us for Oprah… she has come such a long way from where she was. Listen to her if you like. Who among any of us is without sin? Certainly not me. I learned in my 20’s that the ONLY truth is from the Bible. That is why it is still the number ONE book sold worldwide, throughout history. If it can’t be sold, it’s given away, but the words are timeless. Believing in the words of any man or woman outside of the truth of the Bible is and always will be dangerous. Get your truth from the source… just like the elementary song… the

As Christians, the issue is NOT Ophra. It is within ourselves. Are we showing God’s love for us, through us to others? Jesus told the disciples, “this is how they will know you are my disciples, by your LOVE”. Read YOUR Bible, figure out what that love looks like… Read the story of King Davids life, then read the Psalms to see how God loved him (FYI… he had a man killed after getting that mans wife pregnant, then King D married that dead mans wife, they lost the baby at age 2, King D’s other son raped one of King D’s daughters, his oldest son wared against him until death, etc…. awful, soap opera stuff… God chose King D to be in the royal line of Jesus… God’s love is incomprehensible!).
Love God. Love others. Don’t know how? Read your Bible for yourself. Get a good commentary that explains the words. Pray for understanding. God is faithful. God IS love.

It is so sad that fame has destroyed Oprah’s reasoning. She is famous because of what God has given her. She needs to read the Bible with a person, of knowledge of the truth, to learn about our Savior and redeemer. The Bible is God’s word and it tells of how much he loves us and has willingly done for us.

He wants to be first in your life”What does it profit a man to gain the wlole world only to lose his own soul” All her fame and fortune is nada, zilch, in God’s eyes…unless its used to increase the Kinkdom. Jesus Christ was not a prophet. Jesus has to be either a liar, a lunatic , or Lord. Out of all the ” god’s ” worshiped today allah, budda, etc. Jesus, the true God is the only one that has conquered the grave and still lives today. The real tradgedy is the millions that are lost and need some sense of hope that follow such wrong teachings from someone that is in a position to do so much good. What a pitty….but the time is near when every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord !

Um, yall. Calm down… If you LISTEN – Oprah was interviewing the man and stating/clarifying what HE BELIEVED – she never said that SHE believed it. I believe she makes some GOOOD points concerning spirituality and I also think that “Christianity” as we know it is NOT in it’s original intended purest form.. It’s been VERY poluted by the church – in fact the “church” is one of the BIGGEST problems in this world and country… As Christians, we need to stop being so “emotional” and also use the wonderful brains we’ve been given and THINK… THINK….. THINK….. try that for a change… THINK!! Put the tambourines and organs down for a minute, stop speaking in tongues for a minute and THINK!!! We are NOT in order as a church….

It’s amazing to me how much of a controversy is coming out of all this. Oprah needs to simply take the bible for herself and read it, it explains itself, without her adding to it, be careful to anyone who adds to or takes away from the WORD of GOd HIMSELF. Who do we think we are. Are we saying we are greater than the CREATOR???? God help us!!!!
All I know is ONE day the WQORD will defens itself and God will have the last word. We had better get out of OUR OWN thinking and come under the authority of ONLY ONE who can save us fron our sins!!! I actually wanted to do some writing on Oprah’s communication. The clip above is a textbook book example and/or illustration as to how savvy Oprah is in communicating to people/fans/viewers of her television show.
I decided against it due to copyright laws (every episode is copywritten, from what I am told) and the necessary step of getting permission from Oprah’s company to write about her way of communicating her ideas on her TV show.

I feel so incredibly sad at this moment. Oprah has to be one of the most giving and loving women that I’ve ever watched on television. She has such a huge audience and following and instead of leading them to someone that can actually save them, because by her own admission, she knows who God is, she is leading them to a place in eternity of complete destruction. I have for years prayed for Oprah because of the impact that she has on others. Now more than ever, my prayers are with her. How sad that she has bought into the idea, that we are our saviors. I don’t want to be my savior because I’m in trouble if that’s my role. I’m so grateful that God loves me enough that he is jealous of things in my life that can harm me. I will continue to stand on God’s word and not be afraid of my Savior that did die on a cross, but he didn’t remain there, He lives. Oprah, how incredibly sad you are. If having the money that you have has made you believe that you are a God, I fear for you. I pray for God to continue to be patient with you and give you an opportunity to accept Him.

I don’t watch Oprah. I have only been alerted of the broadcast from a very dear friend whom I trust. Many will be continue to be deceived in these days. I too once didn’t “buy” into what I believed to be Hoopla concerning God, but He made Himself very real to me and now I can’t fathom any other life than Christianity. What I want to know from those that doubt is……what if we are right (that Jesus is the only way) if you ascribe to that and believe, then what do you have to lose? If you don’t….you have everything to lose. It’s not a risk I want to take.

After reading these responses….Whew! Where to start?
1. Oprah is WRONG.
2. Christians–Jesus is THE way, THE truth…we know that. Communicate this just as our Lord and Savior did..with love and concern for those who do not believe. Take care to lead, with love and caring for those eternal souls, to the Jesus we know. To communicate that someday unbelievers will “get what is coming to them” is not what our loving & caring Lord wants us to do. Our hearts should be greiving for those misguided by souls–whether that be Oprah or anyone that understands not what God wants. The fact is that we choose to follow Jesus and believe in him OR spend eternity in Hell. Beating unbelivers over the head with this fact will not convince them God is a loving God. Show them God’s love first, then let them know our concern for their eternal soul.

4. Capt. Joe–Your message is right on target. Jesus is the only human to overcome death, rise again and live. It is a pity and so sad that so many are misled.
5. Oprah and others in position of great influence carry a huge burden for those they lead or mis-lead. Make no mistake about it, her statements are grossly wrong–call them snippets or whatever you choose. The fact is the words came from her mouth and people are believing her lies. It is a travesty.
6. When you need information about gardening, you look for the best book you can find about gardening….if you want information about God, read his Book–The Bible. It is divine, it is sacred, and is all about Jesus (remember, the only man to rise from the dead…) Take no one’s word for anything–read the Bible and allow God’s Spirit to lead you. Just try it–15 minutes a day, for 30 days. Such a small investment of time to search the truth for eternity. How can anyone say they don’t believe in God…Even Satan knows there is a God.

It saddens me that Christians have become so narrow minded as to define others experiences of God. Jesus did say the only way to God was through Him. But are any of of us qualified to say we know all of the ways HE speaks to everyone? Why so many denominations? Protestants? Catholics? Has it ever occurred to anyone else that Christ would come to us in any form to save us? He DIED for us for crying out loud. It is the message, not the religion, not the doctrine. Isn’t Oprah just saying that there is more than one path to the Divine? This is the way I explained it to my daughter: There are many different cultures and beliefs about the Divine. But, most of these beliefs have a similar core…..Do unto others……Harm none or it comes back to you threefold…….Karma, etc. Everyone has her or his own path to follow. My grandmother had seven children and twenty-four grandchildren. Her mother called her “Pauline” ; her husband called her “Polly”; her various children called her”Mom”, “Mother”, “Mommy”. Of the twenty-four grandchildren, I was the only one to call her “Granny”….the others called her “Grandmother”, “Grandma”, “MawMaw”, and “Gramma”. Even though she was called by many different names and each person had a different relationship with her, she was one person….. but each person in her life saw a different aspect of her. It has been said that if a group of people sit in a circle with an object in the middle of the circle, each person in the circle will have a different view and thus a different interpretation and description of what the object is. Even if two people are looking at the same view of the object the two people are going to describe it differently according to her or his own views.

Pardon me aguynamedguy if I find in difficult to believe that the author of the book you mentioned has the right to speak on behalf of Christ or God.
That is my point, Jesus or God never wrote a word, human beings did. They were the Oprah of their day.
Someday in the distant future, maybe people will be reading the book of Oprah, just as many today read the lost testament of John Smith.
I will continue to try to live my life each day making a positive difference with the people I come into contact with. I will strive to leave this place a little better.
I choose to not be someone who lives in fear of doom from my God but the doom that mankind is bringing on itself by living above the natural law.
I choose acceptance over hatred, peace over war, life over killing and most of all I have the right to choose everyday the beauty all around me that has been afforded to every living creature.
In closing, I may be way off, but I promise my life and the way I live it will not cause you intentional hurt or support the the organizations that hold superiority over others.
I thank everyone here who has commented on this blog. It is very clear that each of us has such strong feelings about what is and what will be.

Dear Oprah, You have obviously NOT read God’s Word, written! If you have, you are NOT paying any attention to it whatsoever. There is hope for you-it is found in the short book of Joel chapter 2:12-13. This is true repentance that causes humans to put there complete and utter trust in God’s Son, Jesus Christ of Nazareth! The Bible, God’s Word, written is all about Jesus, the God-Man. Yes HE is fully God and Fully Man at the same time. If you doubt anything that I have written here, Just begin your journey right now and read the Church Fathers, of what it means to be Christian and to have faith in Jesus Christ. I believe you eyes and heart will be opened to the only way that you may have life. You say in the beginning of this presentation, that you do not believe Jesus is the only way to “Heaven”. If heaven is the only goal you have, the Bible states “you are to be pitied.” This is found in the New Testament, you say you were a Baptist at the outset. What kind may I ask? This you say does not line up with their beliefs — it seems you are mixing beliefs…??
There is hope for you, even though a veil is draped over your heart right now, Please Read I Corinthians 15 and tell me what you think. I will pray for God to continue drawing you to himself.

Listen carfully she misquotes scripture. God is not jealous of her He is jealous of our feelings for other things. This man that wrote the book says God says you are the light God says and I quote “I am the light” not us. And just to clarify there is ONLY ONE GOD, there is ONLY ONE WAY! As for the light we are not the light Christ is the light. Johns 8:12 “I am the light of the the world.” As for us we are to let that light shine for all the world to see. I cannot judge Oprah as so many of you have because that is God’s place to do. However, I do disagree with her beliefs strongly. There is ONLY one God and he is a veryyy jealous God and if I created all that he did and if I held each individual person in my hand like he does and watched over them daily and made sure that their life was laid out before they were even born… and cared about them so much that I knew the number of hairs on their heads… I’d be jealous too if they decided to praise another “god”. I will surely be praying for Oprah and the members of the church that was mentioned and that they will find Jesus Christ before it is too late.

In ref to what Derek said about what Hank had to say…..I don’t know about everyone else, but seems to me Hank is just speaking the truth…I didn’t read any gratification in his comment. Christians believe what we believe because we know, YES KNOW God is real, and Christ died on the cross for our sins. This is the ONLY way to get into Heaven. We don’t revel in the fact that non-believers could most certainly end up in hell, however when non-believers with a VERY LOUD VOICE start speaking on THE TRUTH, but lie about it, or are just ignorant about it we as Christian Americans not only have the right, but the responsibility to speak up and make sure that the devil isn’t the only one being heard. Church of Oprah????? That in itself should tell anyone with half a brain….Well I’ll just put it this way….For those of you that don’t believe Christ died on the cross for your sins, or God isn’t real….You’re right! How do you help people by giving them misinformation?
How do you obtain unbiased information without having a discussion allowing all sides of the Theology in question to be heard, asking them to show proof for what they believe?
Feelings is what seems to motivate the culture today at the expense of reason.
How damaging can feelings be if they aren’t based on substance that has a solid foundation?
My feelings change minute by minute, day by day, but they are kept in check by reasoning based on solid logic, which keeps me grounded.
I don’t believe the Bible is a book of feelings, but a book that can speak to how we feel about all aspects of life. Scripture puts the feelings our Creator put in all of us into proper perspective.

In response to Joe Rinker’s post. The comment that the Bible is composed of stories written 100 years AFTER the death of Jesus disturbs me. While this may be true for the New Testament, you have to know that most of the New Testament was written from eye witnesses or people translating eye witness’s accounts to other churches who were just as screwed up in understanding the sound doctrine taught by Jesus Christ. You are also missing the Old Testament which is composed of who God is still to this day. In fact, many of the Old Testament books were written anywhere from 1500BC to before the birth of Jesus, which are full of prophesies telling us about Jesus down to the very place He was conceived by the virgin Mary. Jesus quotes on the cross, “My God, My God, Why have you forsaken me?” In those days passages didn’t have verses. Passages were recognized by memorizing them and knowing the first line. The first line of Psalm 22 is “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” In which, mind you is not David on the cross. Psalm 22:14-18 “I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint;
my heart is like wax; it is melted within my breast;my strength is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue sticks to my jaws; you lay me in the dust of death. For dogs encompass me; a company of evildoers encircles me; they have pierced my hands and feet–I can count all my bones–they stare and gloat over me; they divide my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots.” David prophesied the crucifixion 400 years before it was even invented by the Romans. When Jesus took on the sins of the world, He felt it all. How’s that for quoting scripture? Jesus Himself did it, and it’s far more reliable than you think. People haven’t been playing a game of telephone with the Scriptures. They sat down and closely examined the meanings of every word of the original writer’s transcripts. You do however, have to be careful with modern day translations and paraphrases. That’s why I like the ESV and NKJV. They are translations of the Hebrew transcripts while remaining comprehensive and descriptive.
Oprah has a point when she talks about rules. She’s just a little twisted in acting on the issue. Many divisions of Christianity have pointless rules and the mindset that God’s given us a list of rule to follow.. and then He’ll love us. Living this kind of life only leads to feelings of pompous pride or repeated failure. Instead having rules, we are given redemption. God has said He loves us; therefore, we will love him. Psh.. How could he let us into Heaven? Would you invite someone who disobeys all of your house rules into your house? God is letting sinners who believe in Jesus and His teachings into His house where no sin is allowed. That’s beyond me.

To answer a posted question, “What are you Christains so afraid of” (paraphrasing since I can’t remember which person posted it.) I don’t think that we are afraid of her, we are just very conserned because of all the people who beleive what they are TOLD without finding out the truth for themselves. What she is saying is not ULITMATE TRUTH.
To find out about God, you MUST read His Word. I admit that it is a BIG book. But “seek and ye shall find.” God does not force people to beleive. We need to pray for Oprah and all of her followers that they may know Jesus, The Way, The Truth, and The Life.
Remembering what it was like before I knew Jesus, I do know that I tried many things to satisfy a longing in my heart, that (now I know) that only He can fill.
He will draw people to Himself, it is our choice to seek.
Do you hear Him speaking to you? Pick up a bible, and read what he says to you. Like Dr. Kent, (I think), I recomend starting in St. John. or another of the New Testament gospels.
Let’s share truth IN LOVE.
Oprah was created by God, and He is powerful, and therefore He will do His will. He is the judge, but I’m so glad that I know what she is saying and endorsing. We must keep our eyes open, and our armor on.
Love one another. Share His good news.

Just wanted to say that I sent OPRAH the scripture passages about the JEALOUS GOD. I also, am saddened to know that any minister evidently, did not fully explain the scripture to her. If each of us who have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ would pray instead of criticize, GOD can use this situation to reach the ones whom the devil has blinded their eyes and hearts. I am not interested in which church or religion is the largest, etc. My heartfelt concern is that each and every person would be saved from ETERNAL HELL. Like C.S.Lewis said, either Jesus is who he said he is (the only way) and thus Lord, or he is a liar or a lunatic. Personally, if you believe he is a prophet, how can you believe Him when he says “I am the way”? I am saddened that Oprah has succumed to new age existentialism, which is Humanism, the oldest religion in the world, in disquise–worship of man. Her disdain for the Biblical family is obvious. Her new age priest and psychiatrist (Dr. Phil) are both evidence of her unhappiness and unfulfilled life she perceives.
May I ask… who of you would compell your best friend or Christian brother to give to the poor or else be thrown in jail? Would anyone show me in the Bible where government has the right to steal from my Christian brothers to give to anyone the local attorneys or Congressmen and women in Washington say or else go to jail? Compassion shouldn’t demand compulsion. Do you really worship Christ and God? Look at your paystub and checkbook. The Government DEMANDS more tithe than the LORD. Why didn’t God institute socialism instead of capitalism?
I can see why Oprah supports a candidate that supports abortion at any stage and infanticide (see Citizens Report on Obama’s voting record). I an’t see it pragmatically as it has doomed Social Security and Medicare. I can’t see why any Christian would support such a candidate especially when the Old and New Testaments call unborn and born children by the same word, and thus place equal importance to them. Herod’s slaughter of the innocent males at the time of Jesus is enough for me.

The name calling really isn’t necessary. Is it possible to state your case without attacking the group of people delivering the message you find offensive? In the future, here is a pointer for arguing your point well:
Don’t attack the person (people) delivering the message; speak to the message itself.
In addition, here are just a few scriptures that I hope will encourage you to do what you are advising others to do: read the Bible. But in your case, you will likely need to tack on another task: ask God for revelation.
1) “Jesus was about peace and understanding and love of everyone.” Yes, God is love and Jesus is God incarnate. However, God also HATES. He must. If He didn’t, it would not be consistent with His perfect, Holy nature. For example, Malachi 2:16 clearly states, God “HATES divorce.” And speaking of love, love speaks the Truth, because the Truth sets people free.
2)Yes, Jesus is the Prince of Peace…and He is also the one who said the following in Matthew 10: 33-35: “But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven. “Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. For I have come to ‘set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”
3)”Jesus didn’t mind being questioned about God.” Indeed, he did not. However, I challenge you to go to the New Testament and count how many times the word ‘truth’ is used. To speak any differently would not only be impossible, it would make Him a liar and a friend of His enemy (Satan is the Father of all lies- see John 8:44.)

Republican. Democrat. Independent. No one “owns” Christianity, and no one group can claim to have a monopoly on understanding the many deep things of God. However, whomever understands and promotes the sanctity of human life at every and any stage, is to be supported by anyone who claims to be a Christ follower. Again, no one group of people speaks for Christ (Deuteronomy 30: 19). Could it be that you are sounding pretty intolerant yourself…?

Again, no one group of people speaks for Christ, so to say that “they” hate immigrants (you are suggesting), is to say that Christians hate immigrants. This argument is faulty and frail. As a product of two immigrants, and someone who is married to an immigrant, I can say that I do not hate my parents or my husband…and, by the way, I am a Christian.
Additionally, I do not hate “gays” (I call them homosexuals). I was a card-carrying member of the homosexual agenda, and by the grace of God, I have been set-free. Many Christians actually lived and supported the homosexual life-choice. And now that they have come out of the dark closet of homosexuality, and they see just how much brighter life is in Christ, they want to tell others. It is not hateful to speak Truth. Since God has the final and first say on all matters, here is what He has said (and it hasn’t changed) about homosexuality: “If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them.” Leviticus 20:13. There are more scriptures that speak to homosexuality being a sin, but the aforementioned one is quite clear. Hate homosexuals? Hardly. Indeed, we love them so much, we tell them the truth. Is it always in a loving, tactful way? No. Christians miss that mark more often than we are willing to accept. Nevertheless, you cannot use our failure to lovingly communicate a Truthful message, to then call the message false or worthy of being ignored. That is not reasonable. Finally, anyone who says they hate a person, is not Christian. Period. (see 1 John 2).
LA, please, allow those who are truly followers of Christ to speak for Him. Please, I kindly ask that you not misrepresent His name…or His people. We are by no means perfect, but we are striving to be perfect like Him. I challenge you to forget all of what you think you know about Him, and seek to know the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth…So help you, God.

Correct you are, but there is a refrain to that: He called them to change. Jesus was about more than just peace, understanding, and love of everyone. He was about taking away the burden of the sin that prevented us from entering Heaven. He tore the divisions of the temple to where even a common woman could enter where the high priest made the Day of Atonement sacrifice at the Arc of the Covenant. Jesus was not tolerant towards sin, because he taught change–repentance from sin. I wouldn’t love a God who looked down on His creation, which He intended to live eternally in worship for Him, all the while watching rape, oppression, hatred, murder, idolatry, divorce, theft, discrimination, vanity, and absence of Him (sin) and saying, “Meh.. I see nothing wrong here.”

We should not be surprised at this at all. 1st Corinthians 1:18 tells us that the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness! It is stupidity to the person that does not have an understanding of why Christ has become the Power of God unto Salvation! Salvation does not belong to us, as Oprah Claims, Salvation is of the LORD.
The reason it is foolishness to so many is that they don’t have a clue why they need Jesus. You are probably not going to win an intellectual arguement with Oprah, but you can take the Word of God and stop her from justifying her sinful nature. Romans 3:19-20 reminds us That every mouth may be stopped, and that all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in His sight for by the law is the knowledge of sin! The law of God is what Oprah, and the rest of the World is condemened by. GOD”S LAW! If we are sent to prison for killing someone, or taking something in this country, and we understand that we will go to prison for breaking that law, then we can’t argue the fact of that for to long, because we know it to be fact. God’s law is no different. There are 10 of them! Remember the 10 Commandments? It’s not all of God’s law’s, but we can start there.
Lying is a law that God said not to do. Dishourning your parents is something God said not to do. Commiting audultry God said not to do. Having other God’s before you God said don’t do it. etc… God’s standards are so much higher then ours, that we will NEVER be able to keep all of his law! I have lied. I have taken thing’s before that didn’t belong to me. I have dishonored my parents growing up. God’s law says that to be perfect we are to keep his law in thought, word, and deed. THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE! James said if you broke one law you are gulity of all. There can not be any liars or Whoremongers, Blasphemers, or audulters, or murderers entering the kingdom of God.
You might say I have never committed audultry. Really? The Bible says that if you LOOK at another individual with LUST IN YOUR HEART you have committed the act of audultry with that person in your heart! 1 John 3:14-15 says that if you hate someone you are compared to a murderer, and it says that you know no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.
Again THOUGHT< WORD< AND DEED! This is why we need Jesus! He came to take away the penalty of that law, so that we could go free. Let’s say you have stolen something, and the judge sets a fine of $250,000.00 to be paid to the court. If it’s paid your free. If Not you spend 10 years in prison.
You have no money. The judge is getting ready to cast judgement, and give you 10 years. Then all of a sudden someone you don’t know steps in with a check for $250,000.00 and pays your fine for you, and you are set free! Would you be indebted to that person? SURE!!!!!!!!
That is an illustration of what Jesus did for Oprah, and the rest of the World. He paid my fine when I couldn’t pay it. I was guilty just like you Oprah, and when I called on the name of Jesus he saved me by His Marvellous Grace. I found that he was the only way, and the only truth, and the only life! I didn’t deserve it, I couldn’t buy it. But Jesus paid for it. Oprah you have more money then all the people who have responded to this add, but not even your money can purchase your salvation. You owe a debt to God you will NEVER be able to pay. Trust Him, and stop breaking the 1st commandment of having other God’s before Him! You have created in your mind a God who does not exist. The book of Mark says, “What shall it profit a man if he should gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” You need to turn to the LORD Jesus Christ while there is still time. We need to continue to pray for people like Oprah, and Oprah that God will save her before it’s to late.

Wow! All this is really interesting. I think that as far as the belief and feeling thing goes she is only partially right. She said that Christians say it is all about belief in God. There are many people who belieive in God but do not follow him. I think that not only must you believe in God but you must also seek him and act on your belief. Feeling and emotion is part of experiencing God as well as believing in him.
As far as what happened to tolerance and free speech in America no one is preventing anyone from saying anything. I also believe that while Christians shouldn’t force people to believe what they believe they should establish their point of view and make it known. I don’t think that tolereance on certain levels is acceptable. War is not tolerance right? Well if God wanted us to tolerate spiritual evil why would this “war” not be in flesh and blood but in the spirit?

Oprah has no more power over the path people take, than she does over life. in other words, people will follow what and who they want. Oprah is confused about the fact that God is Jealous. He is Jealous for us, not of us. God has said that he is not willing that any should perish. Deuteronomy 5:8,9,10 ” You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them: for I, the Lord your God , am a Jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, Verse 10– says” but showing love to a thousand generations, of those who love me and keep my commandments” !!!! WOW!!!! He will show love to a thousand generations of my family if I honor Him and keep his commandments!!! God you got a deal, I can do that!!! WOOHOO!!! that excites me!!! Glory !!!! Praise you Lord !!!! As for Oprah, I am not worshipping at the feet of Oprah. Oprah you lost me as a viewer.

I FEEL really sorry for all who will fall into this trap. My biggest fear is that she will bring Obama into our whitehouse!!!! Hey all,
Im a hardcore believer. An I read through just about all the blogs and there is 1 point that every one has missed. Both christians and non christians alike. Everyone seems to be talking about jealousy, obama which I concede are all good points. I even agree that some of the christians may be a little dogmatic. But the real reason that we as christians are all upset is 1 simple fact. For oprah to endorse this book and defend it is to discredit the entire basis of the christian faith. If “there is no sin”, “and I am christ”, ” I am my own salvation” then there is NO reason for JESUS sacrifice. She is basically saying that Christ died in vain! Do any of you “non christians” realize how offensive that is to followers of christ??? You talk about tolerance but why should we tolerate someone who just Blasphemed our God and the entire basis of the bible. I mean even if you dont belive in Jesus christ or the bible, this point is undeniable. She is endorsing this book and its beliefs and the author. DOnt give me snippetes hogwash! I saw the original show in its entirety and have watched oprrah for years. Where is the empathy for christians. If oprah had said something that discredited Buddah , Allah , Zen, etc. the whole world would be in an uproar about the comments and there wouldn’t be one person on this blog defending her. You must realize that Christians historically are the most persecuted belief system on the planet. He clearly said that any one who “believes” in a god is incorrect. 1) Who is “following” Oprah like that anyway? Sure, she’s a great ‘consumer reports’ type reporter/messenger, and gives decent advice on the next ‘best’ tea kettle to purchase, but really? I refuse to believe there are MILLIONS of Americans sucking up Oprah’s every word on how to live, what to eat, how/what to worship, or even who to vote for. She said she didn’t like beef, yet millions continue to eat it. She endorsed Obama, yet millions decide to vote for the candidate of their own choosing. I tend to give my fellow Americans more credit for their intellectual ability and sense of self.
2) She doesn’t have a church.
3) Oprah’s book club referrals have had atleast one (probably more) highly publicized case of fraud- some ‘biography’ of a woman’s experience living with wolves during the Holocaust that turned out to be a completely fictional tale.
4) I didn’t personally translate he quote about “there is more than one way” to mean that Jesus isn’t that way. I know my path to God (discovering/understanding Him etc) is not the same as the next persons and my way/manner for developing and nurturing that relationship is completely different from the next person’s as well. I believe Jesus is the way to Salvation. But the way to developing my relationship with Him is formed through my life experiences, worship & prayer.
5) Haven’t we learned enough about 30 second sound bites? When have they ever given a ‘true’ picture of what’s going on? Would any of you like your entire life/belief system/personality summed up by one 30 second sound bite? (taken at any random time?)
6) Again, who REALLY listens to Oprah like that anyway????!!! SERIOUSLY??? That clip about “let’s be silent together” was too goofy to be believable. That was a funny clip.
I’m not a huge Oprah fan, one way or another. She’s okay, but she is what she is. A talk show host.

Is so funny how the maker of this video throws Barak Obama in. It is so pitiful that people can not allow a black man to run for president. But if everyone would look and listen closely they will see that they have nothing on him, just on some of his associates. As the person above stated, the largest church is the Catholic Church or now it may be the Muslim faith is largest. If you truly believe in God, then you know that smear campaigns are not of God. You are as much in error as is Oprah. We as people must understand that money does not equate to any closeness with God or his son Jesus. If Oprah does not believe, then bless her heart. All of this can be really confusing if you listen to everything that is on TV, on the web. If you really have an open mind, use it … read the Old Testament and see what God’s jealousy is all about. Read the New Testament and see what Christ was all about. Put God on the spot and ask Him to open your eyes to what is there.
Who was Jesus anyway? Was God really the creator of the universe? Did God really send His own son to earth, fulfilling over a hundred prophesies from centuries before? Why would a creator sacrifice His own to save each of us? Why did it even have to happen? Do you know because you have read about it yourself? Did you have an open mind?
If you live to see tomorrow, who will you serve, and why?

Judge not les ye be judged. Oprah has a right to believe as she wishes and the folks who chose to follow her have that same right. When their time to face Jesus comes around, HE will be their JUDGE. GOD help them and us also for judging others that have a different opinion. I know God is my Father, Jesus is my Lord and no one preaching different beliefs can change my convictions. I do not agree with Oprah but I would not try to force my beliefs on her nor do I accept her trying to force her beliefs on me. As a pastor I am very concerned about so many of these responses. Oprah is no different than a lot of celebreties who like new-age religious thoughts. If you listen to the whole of her shows, she is also no less dangerous. Maybe instead of focusing on the celebrity of the month in snippets that don’t reflect the whole work but are just taken out of context to incite we can stop “hatin’ and start following jesus ourselves.
Why do people like and find hope in humanistic teaching? Becasue we are so battering! Most of the new-agers don’t come accross angry at other faiths, they come accross the way we should – as loving, caring and wanting to help. Read these responses, how do we come accross – fearful, accusitory, and full of self-righteuos anger. I beleive in the triune God (father son and Holy ghost), in the power of the Holy Spirit to enable us to submit, live, follow and teach the way of our Lord. But in our blogs, can we begin to share the Good news – in a way that we don’t look angry at every secular challenge. why not follow Jesus in the way we respond to people of other faith, with love and loving teaching, understanding why folk beleive what they beleive and what their souls are searching for. and, then, wisely and with love discussing what Jesus taught and why our lives are forever changed after relationship with him. why do we have to make people feel small, and damned, and judged when God is the only Judge. We don’t know whether or not Oprah will make a death bed confession, so we don’t know her fate, for real! So why not just take these opportunities to lovingly lead people to chirst and talk about why we love the lord, why and How God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself and giving us THE MINISTRY of reconcilliation – read the comments. If you were unchurched, if you followed the new age movement, would you even want to talk to any of us Christians? Let’s take the spotlight off of Operah, and put it on us. Jesus didn’t spend a lot of time on rome – he spent time talking to his followers. He didn’t yell, despair, cry, about Rome, but he did about his followers. Let’s learn to not be self righteous judges, but let us learn to be self healing (through god’s Holy spirit and our accountability relationships with each other) chrisitans. And then, maybe Ghandis statement would be true – “show me a christian and I’ll become one”. We are not demonstarting our faith. People read these blogs, hear our fear and judgement, and run the other way. Let’s show the love, and share why we believe. What are we doing to heal the nation, what are we doing to help the poor and the needed, what are we doing about injustice and violence, how are we living our faith in such a way to make the world better. If we do what the Lord requires of us – seek justice, love mercy, walk HUMBLY with God, – if we truly follow Jesus who began his ministry saying – the Spirit of the Lord is upon me to Preach Good news to the Poor, set at liberty the oppressed, bind up the broken hearted… people follow oprah and other celebrities becasue they feel they are offering an understandable and demonstrable hope in a world going bad. Let’s stop bashing and start living and writing in love, and criticising not every non-christian – but every christian until we live christ in such a way that people follow us by the millions based on our faith AND our actions AND our words lining up with love.
regarding Obama – look at the faith statements of many current and early politicians. Obama is being scrutinized in ways that do not reflect his stated and professed faith. Don’t judge any of us by who hangs with us. Drug dealers, ex-offenders, and angry people on the margins follow the ministry of our church, it is a reflection of our faith when misguided folk are in our company but does not always mean we share all of their beleifes. If you look at who is supporting any candidate you will find chrisitans, jews, agnostics, athiest, mormons, budhists, hindus, wichans, every one. Do the research on all before you get paranoid about any one.

The saddest thing of all is that she totally misunderstood that pastor so many years ago and never bothered to seek an understanding of what he was saying when he said God is “jealous.” I just read the neatest e-mail. It compared God to a barber. The barber was arguing with a customer and said he did not believe God existed. The customer,not wanting to argue, said nothing and walked out of the shop. As soon as he stepped out, he saw a man badly in need of a haircut. He went back in the shop and said, “Barbers don’t exist!” The barber said “Of course they do, I am right here.” And the customer said, “And just like you, God can’t help someone if they don’t come in for help.” We need to pray for Oprah; that she truly reaches the real level of conciousness before it is too late.

Actually, I find that Christians are the most tolerant and loving of all peoples on earth. Christians donate more money and personal time to helping others compared to any other group. This is not conjecture but provable fact. It is true that religion has historically been the argument used for war, but does mankind really need an excuse. For those of you that are anti-Christian, or any religion for that matter, attend a church this Sunday. You will see the best of man come out. No, Christians are not intolerant, actually quite the opposite. Christians tolerate hatred more and more every day in this country. Our country, that was founded on the principals of religious freedoms and tolerance. Christians are not banging down your door and forcing you to worship. No, we leave that to the radical Muslims. How impressive. I see here alot of comments arguing about the
authenticity or correctness of this video, Oprah’s beliefs and your
own beliefs. To me this entire video is indeed a very slanted view.
I too have my beliefs and they are founded from my own experiences.
The one thing that I know for sure is that this video is an advertisement
to sell someone’s book, maybe you missed that part, but I am sure that
everyone passing this around in email has done an excellent job of
advertising. Try viewing the video again considering that some things
are probably taken out of context all for the purpose of selling a book.

I agree that Oprah is New Age and I’m not alway sure that putting your trust in spiritualism without religion is a wise solution for anyone who doesn’t know him, or herself, very well. It can be just as misleading as any other organized religion, even if generally, it is less destructive to society as a whole. No war was ever fought in the name of self-directed morals, even if you believe other religions to be wrong, it is fought in the name of some god, or against the name of someone else’s god.
Oprah made a good point… She did not mean God was jealous of her in the envious sense, as one poor soul who doesn’t understand the nuances of the English language misunderstood her to mean. She meant that if God is all powerful, why does he need to constantly reinforce his power and influence over humanity through fear of retribution, or in terms that sound as if we are merely objects he owns?
People who are judgmental have no difficulty seeing their god as vindictive and judgmental, because such people generally are so powerless in life and in so need of being in control that such arbitrary and petty behavior can be seen as righteous, or even just in their own minds.
Yes, there is the God of the Old Testament who smote sinners like the citizens of Sodom and Gommorah. Then again, Jesus hung out with prostitutes and tax collectors, the most despised of his society. I guess God had a change of heart, but since he’s all seeing and knows the future before it happens, he tends to seem rather changeable and petty for someone who is supposedly omnipotent and pure of heart.
That was Oprah’s point and however misled you may believe that she is, none of us on earth are pure of heart enough to justify our own hate and prejudice as righteous anger. Christians should be aware that their condemnation of sinners will lead more people to turn their backs on religion than all the carnal pleasures of the world and the devil himself can ever wish to lure people away from God. You are your own worst enemies that make Oprah seem like an ideal friend in comparison. Make Christianity appealing by making it about love, not judgment and you might just save a few more souls. Preach your own good word, instead of worryign about self-prophets, who come and go.

I love Oprah for all she has done for so many, but may God forgive her for not accepting Jesus as the son of God, born of the Virgin mother, crucified and died on the cross for our salvation. I love you Oprah but you are treading on dangerous ground. I pray the Holy Spirit indwell in you to open your eyes and accept Jesus as your own personal Savior and be saved before it’s too late. The reason why Christians get upset about people publicly leading others to false statements about what God has taught follows the same line of thinking as people getting upset when they see or hear about a total stranger hurting a child. The child is not ours and yet it angers us to see the abuse. Why do we get angry over someone hurting a child? Because we know that the child can be scarred for life and that the child was harmed. The same is true when someone teaches another falsely about the love of Jesus Christ. We know that person can be scarred for life and we know that person is being harmed right now.
Why would a person be scarred for life? Jesus does more for a person than promising eternal life. He changes hearts and lives. You can see what happens to a family when a parent is taken away, we find ourselves a bit more empty. Magnify that when a person only has himself to lean on.
Finally in the same way you would stop a child from crossing a busy street is the same way we want to stop people teaching false doctrine. Even if Oprah says we are to let us make our own decisions I doubt very much she would allow a child to make his own decision about whether or not it is safe to cross a busy highway. Yet that is what she suggests with her “ministry”.
Why am I referring to children so often in this post? Because we are children, God’s children.

Let us imagine that after you were born you had nobody to instruct you as you grew. Then in your teenage years someone told you that you need to jump off a cliff in order to find true enlightenment. What would you believe? Would you have the inner wisdom to know that jumping off a cliff would lead to death? God says, “we who are like SHEEP have gone astray.” Since our nature is anything, but godly we are easily ensnared by lies and deception.

I find the comments that some people make to be crazy. I grew up Christian. I was a very devout Christian until I had a crisis of faith and now I’m in limbo trying to figure out my path. What I find to be perposterous is that you are so quick to judge and say horrible things about this woman. As a Christian you are not to judge others. There are so many Christians out there that don’t follow the Christian way, but yet you go to church and think you’ll be saved because you pray. You do realize that in order to be saved you have to live a faithful, holy life. You have to repent your sins. Not continuously sin over and over again the same thing. It’s all crazy to think that there may not be one way. What if you are wrong, and someone’s other religion is right? Then what? All your beliefs go down the drain. People are allowed to believe what they want without persecution. It’s called the Bill of Rights and the Right to believe whatever you shall choose. Most of the problems with our world today are all due to religious persecution. Maybe you should all look at yourselves before you judge others.
I love Oprah. I think she’s an amazing woman. No way does this mean I believe everything she says. If you are crazy enough to have someone be able to change your beliefs that you worked so hard to hold dear in a heart beat because of who they are, you are just a follower. Stick to your convictions. If you do feel the need to question or change your beliefs, then you better be sure there is good reason for it. Not because a celebrity says otherwise (ehem….Tom Cruise for instance).

Oprah has believed the lie, “You will become as god’s.” This is just new age thinking syncretising aspects of Christian belief and making up their own sanitised version of salvation. The truth will set you free Oprah, but you need to get it from the One who is the Truth, that is The one who said, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, no one comes to the Father but through me.” So Oprah your path will never lead you to your destination unless you get onto the right road. May God open your eyes to the truth of Jesus Christ and stop seeing with eyes of flesh.

I think it is funny this argument over religion. You have the people who say God is real, jesus was real, etc AND then you have the non believers and if people don’t believe they are some how going to be banished to hell. My question is this Can you prove 100% without a doubt that God is real? To simply believe that something is real isn’t enough in my book, because look at History when everybody believed the world was flat, and we now know that isn’t true. What if the bible is a collection of short stories written by one man, or by many men in an attempt to create false hope. Nobody knows the truth and without 100% proof of his exsistence nobdoy will ever know.

Very scary stuff! Oprah says God is a feeling not a belief, but the Bible says that whoever BELIEVES in Him will NOT perish but have eternal life! It doesn’t say if we feel Him. Believing takes faith, feeling only takes emotion. This makes me so sad because so many people hang on every word she says as if it’s the gospel.

I am reading the book, but by myself, by my own convictions. I have to admit I probably would have listened to the webcast if my computer had sound. The book to me, is what you perceive it to be and not what everyone else thinks about it. Now–the Bible–that is the best read I’ve ever found in my life. Religion is a category to me. I believe that Jesus came to the world to save me (others) and God gave his only Son so that we could have everlasting life! That is my believe and only one book do I live by–Bible. Keep the faith and learn God’s purpose for your life.

Furthermore, for those who claim that this is an attack against Obama, there is enough in Obama’s policies for Christians to not vote for Obama. This is not against Obama, this is clearly about Oprah.
To say that one has to prove 100% that God exists is halarious, since everything you do involves faith to some extent.
Finally, the argument that Christians are not supposed to judge, that is not Biblical. The Bible says that we can’t judge unrighteously (Matt 7:1-4), that those who claims to be Christian must be judged righteously (1 Cor 5), and that Preachers/Teachers must be judged according to sound Doctrine (throughout the NT and OT).

To my understanding there are more than 130 translations of what we call The Bible. When the King James version was translated who really authorized the translations. Who modeled for photos , yes, the ones that taught us Jesus had blond hair and blue eyes. If you had grown up in China or in a Muslim nation would you know this Jesus as you claim you know him? Are you saying all Muslims or people that are Bhuddist are going to hell? Okay the Bible says ‘every knee shall bow, what about people whose legs have been amputated? Also, I’m to be like the Proverbs 31 woman right? Well, I don’t have children because my womb was not blessed. Am I going to hell? And who will childless people leave an inheritance to? And my favorite subject that gets you JESUS folks stirred up HOMOSEXUALITY can you say Hermorphidites. If God doesn’t make mistakes,and he does not, if a child can be born with a clef lip of six fingers or an undeveloped lung, do you mean to tell me a mistake could not have been made when it comes to their sexuality. Yes, I’ve studied and still get up everyday with a minimum of 1 hour of the Word. Oh you do know faith comes by HEARING the Word not reading it? Oh, forgive me for being technical. I never completed my formal education beyond 4th grade. Will you bible toting-verse quoting-bumper sticker driving- cross wearing saints first go put your cigarette out, turn that cable program off that shows all that sex and murder and get off the legal drugs and then find some real issues to involve yourself with. Hey there. I feel sad for Oprah. I am VERY concerned for those who lundge forward at her every word. I pray that they think and discern for themselves. All souls are at risk you know.
Lots to say:
As a pastor’s wife, MANY Many times I want to RUN OUT of the church, because of those who call themselves Christians are one of several types and many are NOT of the first defintion.
1-Those who have had a real experience with the presence of God through Jesus Christ, and are in a daily growing relationship with Him personally though deep communication with and(yes through His word too), accountability and sweet submission to the relationship. Their identity is NOT given up but made so much better as well as their existience and purpose on this planet because of the reality of Jesus Christ IN their Lives.
2- Those who call themselves Christians, and who aren’t desperate to really find out who He is to them personally, becasue they like putting HIM in a box of convienence Being in control over their lives. Jesus Christ is NOT Lord in their lives. OH, THEY have “Christian” Opinions. Their maturity levels in their faith parallel their maturity level in any other relationship.
THOSE are the rage-based Christians who will look and find fault in everything they see and feel threatened about what one says about their Jesus. They don’t take the time to think out a mature response.
(I, by the way don’t like ANYONE hurting my Jesus’ Character)
3- Status Quo Christians- Those who keep up with the Jones’ by calling themselves Christians and want nothing to do with any relationship with Jesus. FUNNY, many of these are the ones who try to quote the Bible or attack well-meaning but immature emotional Christians.
So, you can see that posting here there are many of us. All levels. That’s why I want to book out of church MANY times because I find myself not patient with all different Christian maturity levels.
I am saying this because THANK God, Jesus and what He did for us isn’t measured by our maturity levels and how vs what we say on His behalf. My prayer as you read even my posting that though I do Not approve of Oprah’s opinions on who God is through ANY of her venues, and I see how this will hurt a soul’s growth, I would like for those of you who do not know of this relationship with Jesus, not to be turned-off by harsh words and unkindnesses. Some of us do know what’s going on with our personal relationship with Jesus and its depth. And we are slow to jump all over the illnesses of ignorance on all sides and in ALL areanas.

The New Testament isn’t “stories” written 100 years after Jesus lived. Many of them were written by His disciples: Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Peter, etc. Perhaps you should read how these “letters” were re-copied. Not only was the word carefully checked but the number of letters had to be exact and each letter had a numerical value. That numberical value was checked for exactness. If it was off, there was no correction: it had to be re-copied from the original.

An obvious and refutable point, from a logical standpoint, on the viewpoints of this man whose book Oprah is selling (yes, selling, she sells beliefs…that’s why she’s fishtailed all over the spectrum over the years–no doubt she is motivated by a belief in the New Age, but primarily, she’s a marketing guru)…the most unsound thing he said was that he does ‘not even think about [death].’
My point of disagreement comes from the very fact that death is as central, if not more so in some ways, to life or to our cultural, or even human psyche, as birth is. Death is important. Our culture (and every one we know of) is orientated around death in many ways. In Western Culture specifically, think about the concept of retirement, doing all the things you’ve never had a chance, a last hoo-ray. Think about the fact that we bury our dead, because we care about their final resting place, we want a modecum of comfort, order and sense to accompany death. In fact, every culture, big or small, has some way of dealing with or explaining death.
In many cultures, dying a good death meant that you died for a purpose, for something worthy, for the purpose of guarenteeing a good spot in the Afterlife. Now, as pagen and even misguided as that belief may have been, it illustrates the point that we humans, as a general population see death as an extremely important even. To a certain extent we spend our lives preparing for it (saving, writing wills, etc), we often worry about. So to deny that death is important to the human experience, or to purport that death is not worth considering is to invalidate something that is an innate part of our humanity–the curiosity and uncertainty about what death holds. Death is not unimportant.
It is for the release from death that Christ came to free us. The subjegation of humanity in the grip of death through sin is one of the basic tenets that Christ’s life revolved around. Christ came to help us make sense of death, to find our purpose in Him and realize that we were intended for so much more than our mortal lives. Life is fleeting and measurable, but death is eternal–how can we not attach significance to that?

(So yes, here I am judging others for being judgemental!!!) I had to pull myself away from the church because I couldn’t take it any more. Many Christians always pointing out the sins of others as though they were always perfect. Enough is enough people for the greatest comandment is to “love one another as I have loved you.”

oprah didn’t start a CHURCH for crying out loud, she was talking to a man who wrote a book for her BOOK CLUB. what’s wrong with her agreeing with someone else’s opinion and showing other people what she’s found to be enlightening and makes sense to her. isn’t that one of the foundations of christianity? i may be biased because i lost my faith in the catholic church’s idea of God. and what is so wrong about admitting that there isn’t just ONE way to God? if we claim to know one absolute way, aren’t we being just a tad hypocritical? christians claim to trust in god then question why he would create a world and a species with FREE WILL and then force them all to ignore that free will and be a lemming? God, or whatever you call it/him/her/them is open to interpretation because nobody, and i mean NOBODY knows for sure. if you do somehow, i’m sure oprah would be more than happy to do a show about you too. since when is it a crime to try to bring some new ideas into the world? nobody can force someone to believe in something that they don’t, so use your free will and choose to live and let live.

Just think : With all the influence Oprah has on people, Wouldn’t it be great if she were an evangelist and turned her beliefs around. She could cause many lost souls to be saved. AND you know she knows what is right. She was brought up in the Baptist Church! I feel that if she is not a Christian and we all pray for her she will be convicted and hopefully be saved. Have you been saved Oprah? Once saved always saved! You will be judged. She should give thanks to God every day for what he has given her monetarily. He could take it all away in the blink of an eye! I once heard this saying and being a Christian, Saved by grace and living by faith in mine and your JESUS, I use this whenever I encounter anyone who doesn’t believe or wants to know how to be saved: “I had rather live today as if there is a HEAVEN than to die tomorrow and find out there is a HELL. Thank you Jesus for dying for me. I’m just glad I have parents who carried me to church when I was little and I know how to forgive , love and pray for people. EVERYBODY has a SOUL!

My goodness. This is absolutely horrible! Oprah has done great things. But this has totally changed my view on her. Oprah – you are in my prayers. How can such a powerful woman do something like this? God will never and I mean never be jealous of you. He is the Alpha Omega, The Almighty, The Redeemer.He put you on this Eart, He knows how many hairs on your head, what you think, what your heart needs, what is going to happen to you.My point God knows everything about you and what will be and what was.Not just for you, but for anyone that has lived and that will live .God is the way, the truth, and the light. He sent his son, Jesus, to die on the cross for our sin so that we can go to Heaven. It is your choice to accpet or not. If you don’t on your Judgement Day you will go Hell and burn in for eternity. So accept Jesus, as Lord our Savior and lead a Christian life. Remember John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave His only forgotten Son, that whoever believes will live for eternal life”. I threw out all my Oprah’s magazines. I am in high school. How do you think I view this? Me and my family as whole is never watching her show again or buy anything that has her name in it or it. People – we need to pray for Oprah. So that she can find the way. Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter through the narrow gate. Simply, wake up. Unfortunately I had the honor to know her sister Pat who died some years ago. Oprah is oviously a bitter woman who hates the things God loves. He is Jealous because He loves us and guards us and holds us in His hand of protection. Oprah never listened to her sister when she told her about Jesus because her sister lost credability due to her sin nature. The reality is that Oprah is a proud woman who is not only renouncing her roots but her family as well. She used to purchase a white Mercedes for her mother as a token. How disgraceful and dishonest she is to pretend to be such a huge giver when in reality she neglected her own family. She is a fraud and deceiver… do not follow her. If her sister were alive the message she would want Oprah to know is that Jesus is the only answer that will satisfy her lust. That she is on a wide path to distruction and that she needs to repent before her life expires. The only desire Pat and her mother had for Oprah was that she would know Christ.

I’m grateful for this brilliant book. It resonates with me and helps deepen my relationship with Christ. I understand Christ’s words even more deeply now. No more superficial prayers and thoughts.
Tolle uses many of Jesus’s words throughout the book to and shows reverence for Him.
“Be still, and know I am God”. God is in the “present” always and in control thank you!

As far as Barak Obama, who knows what he has confessed behind the scenes. We don’t know where his heart really is. We know that Oprah has sponsored him, but do you know if he still talks to her when we don’t see it. Only one person knows and that is God. There are many deceivers out there that will charm there way into your life, you need to know who they are. We need to believe in only one, Our Lord Our God, Jesus Christ, Our Savior. Remember God said in the Bible, there will be false prophets and none believers, we need to pay attention people. These are God’s words, we need to listen to him in our hearts. Like someone said he is the Alpha and The Omega, beginning and the end. The end will come, but only in God’s timing not ours. He knows what will happen to you, because he knows what you will decide to do before you even decide yourself. God is Good and the Devil is a Liar.

I really think that in all the up bringing that She missed the details. God knows her heart. But some are easily turned to go a different path. Like they who turns to drugs, booze etc. They can be changed but what will it take for Oprah? To much $$$$ over the years. I used to watch her all the time until prayer was answered and a full time day job came up.

why would god be jealous of her seeing that he made everything that she has? The devil has greatly decieved her. the devil is incredibly evil, he knows his fate is t go back to hell in the end. Therefore he wants to bring as many people with him down to live with him and his demons.

It is just sad that she would even utter such blasphemy.Iam not a fun of hers and i detest her even more now after.my people get lost because of the luck of knowledge.Wake up people.The wisdom of man is the foolishness of God.We cannot even begin to comprehend the magnitude of his majesty with our mere knowhow.
Oprah should just shut up and stick to her talk show for her own good and that of her blind followers.What is this world coming to,God help us all.

The born-again believers are right on target, as far as salvation and what the Bible(God’s Holy, infallible Word) says about it. I’d like to comment on 4 things.
1. I don’t watch Oprah.
2. I didn’t know anything about any of this yesterday.
3. As with many world ‘religions’, ‘belief systems’, or whatever you call them.. the rank and file, true believers aren’t writing here. They are out there being obedient and whatever that entails (philanthropy,evangelism, and taking care of business) not taking ‘pot-shots’ at Oprah or anyone else.
4. I don’t post anywhere generally.. my last comment: Heaven and Hell are real places and we have only to ask ourselves this question.
You’ll be dead a lot longer than you will be alive.. Where do you want to spend eternity?

If Oprah is opening the eyes to people to better themselves then that is good. I just hope people realize that they are to worship God not Oprah. The only way is through Jesus Christ. If others don’t believe that is truly up to them, but I do!! I don’t judge others for not believing and I just want the same in return. In these last days there will be false preaching we just need to find the correct path and follow it and not be tempted down the wrong path. And who ever said the largest church was Oprah’s is an idiot. The Catholic church is the largest.

You all make really good points, well most of you, but the fact remains that the best witness to unbelievers is a life that shows what you believe. Too many of us are wasting words telling people how they should live when we ourselves (myself included) don’t live the life that we preach to others. There are enough Christians leading double lives (ie. churching on Sunday’s right after the club on Saturday) to prove to unbelievers that we don’t value our own God above sin so why should they believe in something we don’t believe in enough to give up deliberately sinnin for and elevate above our own mess. Oprah does need prayer (so do I), but she also needs Christians that are not only bold enough to tell her the right way to go, but show her the love of Christ. Yes God is love and allows us to choose or reject him, but he also turned over the tables when merchants turned the temple into a mall (John 2:14-16) and said that he did not come to bring peace, but a sword (Matt. 10:34) Witnessing, preaching, and evangelizing is right and what God told us to do (Matt. 28:19 make disciples in every nation), but we have not started with our own nation AND we have not even begun to love each other with brotherly love (Rom. 12:10). Let’s work on ourselvs at the same time we are witnessing and really SHOW the World What Jesus’ love is all about.
By the way John post #26: Jesus did die and he rose again with all power.

Oprah Winfrey is a good person… She gives incredible amounts of her money and influence to make the world a better place. In watching her show on occasion, I have found her to be a caring, respectable woman. And as much as all of these qualities make her admirable, she is still wrong.
I do not condemn Oprah. I whole-heartedly follow Christ and whole-heartedly support the freedoms of the United Sates in a liberal fashion. In that spirit of tolerance, I cannot force my ideology onto Oprah or anyone else. I can only submit that, in my study, experience, and faith, there is only one way to God… Jesus Christ.
I understand that she and you may or may not agree with that finding. Personally, politically, socially, etc… that is absolutely alright. But you must also know that in my belief, those who do not claim Jesus Christ as their only means of acceptance by God separate themselves from the blessings of God.
If you disagree with that assessment and if you do not find Christ to be the sacrifice that puts naturally flawed people back in the good graces of the perfect God, I will not condemn you. It is your right to believe whatever you want. I will not utilize or support the utilization of war, propaganda, guilt, etc… to make you buy into this ideology.
The primary beauty of our flawed governmental system in these United States is that we live and let live. Whatever your race, nationality, and ethnicity, whatever your gender, whatever your education level, occupation, family history, crimes, political affiliation, etc… Whether you are homosexual, heterosexual, bisexual, or otherwise… Whether you believe that there is no God at all, that there is one God to whom there are many paths, that there are many different gods, that god is found within oneself, that God is an idea that people use to oppress others, etc… Whether you are for, against, or neutral on abortion, whether you think that euthanasia is mercy or murder, whether you are concerned with environmental issues or think that none of it really even matters…
I ACCEPT YOU…
My tolerance is not indifference. I want to see everyone come to the same conclusions about God and right that I have found. I want to see every person in my city, state, country, and world declare Jesus Christ as the solution to their problem of human imperfection and separation from God.
… But guilt will not do it. Coercion will not make that declaration. Fear cannot motivate that statement. Only true belief can.
Perhaps my mind is closed… but I will always support the allowance of room for yours to remain open. If I shove you toward God, you’ll only end up falling down just short of Him. However, if I stand in a safe, comfortable place with God and welcome you to find Him through Christ, you may decide to join me.
I will not stand on a tree stump with a megaphone and condemn you to Hell if you don’t stand with me. That will hardly attract anyone at all. I will not lasso you and wrestle you to God. I will not kick and drag and scream. I will stand… and you will know where I stand.
God bless Oprah. Let her experience Him in a personal, life-changing way. May Christ find her exactly where she is and change her mind. God bless you… May you experience Him in a personal, life-changing way, whether you believe in Christ already or whether you have yet to take that step. And may God also bless me… Even though I am secure in His hand to Christ’s credit, may I continue to encounter Him in a personal, life-changing way every day. And as I stand firm for everyone to see, may the passion, certainty, and life that I have in Christ be attractive to those who haven’t yet accepted that He is the end of their search for God.

Ooh please, you people are nothing more than a alot of mockers on one site. All of you posted your thoughts about it, like you were thinking that someone would over look their views to agree with yours. Please, the only good this site is doing; is get each of you to become more in tune with your personal views over others views. Oh, and for those people that ask for proof that god is 100% real, give me proof that he is not a 100% real. Truth is you can’t; that why it called FAITH. you can’t say one thing without the opposite being resolved as well. what a waste of time, this is……… give me a break

After scanning through some of the comments that are posted I am so glad that we as people and individulas whether we believe in God or not have the basic belief that what OPRAH is promoting is a buch of poppy-cock. I know that everyone has theis vision of Oprah just becuase she is the black woman for white people (no pun intended) but Oprah has all of this money and still do not know where she fits in this society. She just did a special in Africa where I was station at and she prayed and called on God and it is even on her DVD…..but here it is a year or so later and some man comes on her show (ANTICHRIST MAN AT THAT) fills her head up with all of this crap and now she thinks that she meant to be a messenger. As many follwers as she has it is an insult to my Heavenly Father that MS. WINFREY and this ANTICHRIST MAN can even compare themselves or the knowledge there of to GOD. YES I AM A CHRISTIAN AND I BELIEVE IN GOD….THAT IS MY BELIEF AND I AM NOT TRYING TO CONVERT HERE….BUT WHAT OPRAH AND THIS ANTICHRIST MAN IS DOING IS SO FAR FETCH THAT EVEN THE UNBELIEVERS ARE APPALLED AND MAD. The reason why she is hitting it big with this (O RELIGION CRAP) is becuase she started cooing them (HER VIEWERS) in a long time ago and now she is the most popluar woman on this earth and I hate to say it but once you get the white folks vote and become the one that Mas-sa like it is a wrap. Oprah is from Mississippi and she was raised in a Baptist Churh….I guess money can BUY RELIGION TOO….but you do not have enough money in the world to by SALVATION…AMEN
