hey daniel this is a really nice website. im glad ur tryin ur best to preach to a school that like u said is in such desperate need of the gospel. Keep goin at it, u’ll nvr regret it!!
I think your message is powerful, totally truthful, relevant, and Biblical. I have a question that has yet to be answered. Here it is. How do we call ourselves a Christian nation, when basically the most segregated day of the week is Sunday when we go to church-seperately for the most part? How we worship should, at least on the surface, indicate we serve a God of Love who embraces all of us. Could you elaborate on this issue?
Thanks Ann. I dont think America is a christian nation. i believe individuals are christians, not nations. God will gather people out of all nations, not nations themselves…
“After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands” -Rev. 7:9
God is love and his followers should show brotherly love to eachother but many seperations still exist. some i think are warranted and some not. (ex: i would not congregate or have fellowship with “christians” who deny Jesus is God) Essential beliefs of the christian faith are worth fighting for and are legitimate reasons to cause schisms. (if only to distinguish true christians from false ones) with that being said, i believe many divisions that exist today are not good ones. Non-essential beliefs are not good reasons to pit ourselves agaisnst eachother.
Hello Daniel,
Thank you for your prompt response to the question. I was seeking to determine if you were a “doer” of The Word and not just someone else giving “lip service” to The Word. Distinguishing the “wheat” from the “tares” does not address the basic tenent of our Faith in Jesus Christ. It seems a cultural problem. I have written a book called “From Terror to Love Defined.” I hope you will get a copy of it and you will understand what I am talking about. It can be purchased from Amazon.com or Barnes&Noble. I am saying why talk about heaven if we can’t endure each other on earth. I’m sure God has not reversed anything He has said to accommodate our ideas of who is worthy to be escape Hell.
Since this country has been faced with a terroristic threat by people who are willing to die for their beliefs, it makes one wonder if we as Christians are dedicated enough to The Word of God to live in obedience to His commandments and not just give lip service to it. That is what I want to see-a committed heart.
The last thing you said reminds me of the doctrine known as perseverance of the saints. there is a very good conference coming up that adresses that topic… http://www.desiringgod.org/Events/NationalConferences/Archives/2007/
please tell me some of the main points of your book.
Thanks for visiting my site earlier. I am impressed by you. Thanks be to God. Love your site. Also, would like to know if I could add you to my blog roll? I would like your last name if I am going to do that. This is totally up to you though.
Not to seem rude, but I was a little concerned by your comments. I only know one “doer” of the Word of God and his name is Jesus, the Christ. His perfect righteousness grants me access into God’s blessed kingdom, because I am unable to “do” what God requires of me.
i see howyou have upgraded your website. THis website makes good examples for those who want and who are sons of God. i am so proud of you getting this far. The glory and love of God is always with you and you have demostrated it to everyone and God could not be more than saticfied but he knows you are his true son. I am glad that you made this happen for all those who want to learn more or simmply just looking around. This can impact many and youve have made this work out for all..Keep it up and may God bless you in all ways that you may need it. May God give you the understanding and wisdom to go forword.
Hi, Daniel. I just discovered your blog and I’m adding it to my links on my own blog. You’re doing a good thing here, and although I’ve only had the pleasure of reading 3 or 4 entires so far, you seem sincere in your walk. And I’m sure you’ll see my avatar all over the place as I read through and comment when lead to.
I read the earlier comments on this page, specifically the ones with Ann about America supposedly being a nation of GOD. Maybe in the beginning when the Mayflower docked…but uh, how many folks living in America do you think would confess Jesus if the National Guard came through the cities under an order to kill all Christians? I mean, people in the Middle East, north Africa, parts of Asia, etc. are dying everyday for professing the ‘wrong’ faith… would/could we ever be so brave as to deny ourselves and to confess that Jesus is Lord?
Hey Daniel. Just found your website today and I’m completely blown away by it. Oh and it’s so cool that you got to go to the Ligonier’s Conference. Mahaney and Sproul are two of my heroes and it’s so cool that you got to meet them. I’m sure you had an awesome time. Thanks for being a great witness for Christ.
thank you for your kind words! i truly appreciate it. and yes…the conference was awesome. i was so psyched to meet these guys which are my heroes also. i loved the fact they were humble and approachable. i read through your book list and im impressed by the substance. i expect good things from your blog.
I was hesitant to start one at first but now I’m glad that I took the plunge. I’ve listened to many of Sproul’s broadcasts and scores of sermons by Mahaney and other Sovereign Grace pastors. They all sound like humble and down to earth kind of men. Could have added plenty more on my book list, a lot more Piper material, little Spurgeon, Luther, Calvin, and Edwards here and there… but I didn’t want to exhaust the reader lol.
Hey danny what’s going on brother, i started one of these cuz well their an awesome way to share the gospel. Well anyways uh i don’t know how to add friends to this thing but i put a link of your page on mine if you don’t mind. Later man Grace and peace to you
I’m a PCA pastor and church planter in Atlanta, GA — also a graduate of Westminster Seminary and a fan of WTS Books. A pastor friend of mine told me about this blog, and I’ve spent a little time poking around. It is all very encouraging, but I wasn’t able to find out much about you personally (I’m not too blog-savvy, I’m afraid). I was curious if you are preparing for pastoral ministry? Our church plant is modestly interracial at this point (10-20% African-American), and we are looking to hire a black summer intern, and eventually a church planter apprentice, who could continue to expand our ministry among the diverse (majority black) population of our target area. Any interest? Feel free to email me directly: walter@atlantawestside.org.
Hi DL! i appreciate the concern…i am actually doing quite well. The lack of posts are due to me being quite busy at the end of this schoolyear with work. I really hope i can get back in the groove soon.
yea i ordered it thought haven’t read it yet because I’m reading the pilgrims progress right now but i have flipped through it and it was recommended by a friend of mine as well. As far as introducing it to youth group I don’t know because most people don’t like to read what i was thinking was like just take a few excerpts out and making photo copies and discuss them over the course of a few weeks instead of the entire book.
